My Mum has one of those Smeg hobd thingies tbh I can’t see any difference between it and our gas range. She also has a £140 Smeg kettle which boils slower than our £20 one. Kitchen tally waggling pff.

I was the same. Now I’m realising that fucking about with plates for 45 minutes a day has been reduced to 5-10 minutes. Modern conveniences, eh?

I know, at any point of day or night I can fill the kettle from the sink without the fear of having to empty the sink of dishes just to fit the kettle under the tap, incredible.

I have 200amp service. While outlets are likely 120v, other stuff is not. Can get 240v if I want it

Oh I’m sure you can get as much supply as you want, if you make the effort. It’s just annoying that there’s some universal safety thing over supply which would kill you regardless if it wasn’t regulated by breakers, and yet you’ve got those tiddly widdly prongs that go into the sockets. The rest of Europe’s the same.
