I’m old enough to remember when they said the same thing about computers and the internet
And “AI” is nowhere as revolutionary as those
Good point, I hope you are right
exactly. the landscape just changes. a whole new sector of supporting AI will replace the lost jobs.
For example, i do Devops. I work in automation. I use AI. As I explained this to my Niece…
If she asks AI to make a script that will enable and disable access to something, she will get some useless code that doesnt work.
If I ask AI to make a script that will enable and disable access to something, I will get a near perfect script AND i will know what needs to be tweaked in the script to make it 100%.
I understand all the logical steps the script must take. She does not.
AI just makes my day easier by doing the grunt work of actually typing out the code. I am free to do multiple tasks, and eliminate the thing that would consume much of my day. Instead of spending 1 day per script, I can do 4-5 scripts in a day and all be fully tested and committed.
Nicely explained. AI is a tool, the same as a calculator is for an accountant (sort of ).
