I think it’s good tactics. “This is no longer your little bargaining chip” is pretty aggressive, as holding the rest of a country to financial ransom so they can kill their civilians and steal their land for some fantasy of a centuries old empire is just farcical bollocks.

yeah, it totally makes sense from a US/NATO/EU perspective. If there is some level of plan B for gas. That pipeline was a massive bargaining chip for Russia. really the only chip apart from the threat of nukes.
